Series two of Upstairs, Downstairs takes place in the early 1900s and concerns itself with the goings on of both family and the staff at 165 Eaton place, home of politician Richard Bellamy, wife Marjorie, wastrel son James and wayward daughter Elizabeth. The domestic staff are headed by Hudson the Butler, a conservative and proper Scot who has to contend with the 'below stairs' behaviour of the household staff, amongst them cook Mrs Bridges and maids Rose and Sarah.

Series three of UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS takes place between 1912 and 1914, starting with Lady Majorie's fateful voyage on the RMS Titanic and ending just prior to the advent of World War I. Richard Bellamy must cope with life without his wife and wastrel son James settles down and gets married, although the relationship is uneven at best.
