Clinical psychologist Dr Tony Hill (Robson Green), has the power of empathy beyond the established boundaries of his science, which enables him to put himself in the shoes of both murderer and victim. Intelligent and passionate about his work, Tony is usually confined to researching convicted killers and lecturing students, but becomes involved with the police through ambitious DI Carol Jordan (Hermione Norris). In this special feature length episode of Wire In The Blood, Tony Hill (played by Robson Green) finds himself a fish out of water when he s invited to Texas as an expert witness in a case of family annihilation. Known drug addict and Iraq combat vet Darius Wade has confessed to brutally slaughtering his wife and two young children. His defence team claim that Darius traumatic experiences in war have left him with PTSD, and he committed his crime while hallucinating a mitigating factor that should spare him the death penalty. The prosecution want Tony to join with them in proving that Darius supposed PTSD is a fraud, especially in light of a rape crime he committed while stationed in the UK a crime for which Tony interviewed him but for which he escaped justice because the US Air Force whisked him home. Alone in a strange country, surrounded by hostile lawyers and police, Tony finds himself at the centre of a maelstrom of competing legal and political interests. He s insulted, threatened, framed and physically attacked... and meanwhile his doubts grow about the case. Nobody is quite what they seem. And everyone has a vested interest in Darius.
