Welcome to the private world of Jeremy and Mark - two very ordinary weirdos. Peep Show is the innovative comedy series from Channel 4 seen through the eyes of the core characters. In an inventive twist, their inner thoughts and feelings can be heard - whether they be dark, stupid or embarrassingly over-blown. Wannabe popstar Jeremy (Robert Webb) is a lazy man with big ideas, mostly about himself. He has been thrown out by his ex `Big Suze` and has ended up living with Mark (David Mitchell), his old friend, who has a completely different no-pain-no-gain view of the world. Socially dysfunctional in their different ways, Mark and Jeremy have an unhealthy reliance on one another - a dependence that can turn to frustration. And to further complicate their existence, Mark - in his cack-handed way - is in pursuit of the love of his life, co-worker Sophie (Olivia Colman), while Jeremy lives in awe of his idiotic and manipulative mate Super Hans and their beautiful but brittle neighbr Toni.
Featuring the inspired partnership of David Mitchell (Mark) and Robert Webb (Jeremy) this award winning Channel 4 has attracted a cult following. Famous for the inspired use of its main characters internal monologues, Peep Show bring us two of the greatest TV comedy characters of recent years. In Series 2 Mark finally succeeds in wooing Sophie only to stuff it up when she discovers he has hacked into her emails, and Jeremy also messes up, finally getting to sleep with Toni (now his boss at a media sales agency) but falling hopelessly in love with Nancy, a gorgeous American. Nancy weds Jeremy (for visa reasons) but this marriage of convenience only brings Jeremy deeper frustration .
Peep Show Series 3 continues to follow the domestic adventures of Mark (David Mitchell) and Jeremy (Robert Webb)--two quirky flat mates who live in South London. Jeremy is an aimless waster and wannabe musician, while Mark is a socially-awkward 50 year-old trapped in the body of a twenty-something. What stands out about "Peep Show" is its finely honed script and strong lead performances by the show's creators, David Mitchell and Robert Webb. The fact that viewers are able to hear the innermost thoughts of Mark and Jez as they encounter various problems makes their characters all the more vulnerable and sympathetic. The result is a well-observed comedy for anyone who spends life at the mercy of their own hesitant thoughts (...and who doesn't?).
With the release of Peep Show: Series Four, Mark and Jeremy, the directionless college friends and flat mates of Apollo House in South London, are back to their usual antics. While Mark the sensible professional with a slightly disconcerting interest in World War II deals with the consequences of his accidental proposal to his office crush Sophie, Jeremy the drifting waster whose life-long dream is to become a musician struggles to win back his beautiful ex-visa wife, Nancy. In this series, as ever, the pairs deepest and darkest thoughts and feelings are revealed to viewers, as they try in vain to find their place in the modern world and search to find love and fulfillment.
The fifth series of the gloriously un-PC comedy PEEP SHOW finds Mark and Jeremy returning from Mark's honeymoon in Mauritius and into the aftermath of his wedding day 'jilting'. As Mark is thrown reluctantly back into the dating scene--with predictably cringe-worthy results--Jeremy's lack of cash sees him turning back to his mother. The show's refreshing lack of 'lessons being learnt' and characters 'growing up and moving on' is present as ever, with Sophie, Jeff, Big Suze and Johnson all returning to complicate matters further. What makes PEEP SHOW stand out from the comedy pack is its finely honed script and strong lead performances by David Mitchell and Robert Webb. The fact that viewers are able to hear the innermost thoughts of Mark and Jeremy as they encounter various problems makes their characters all the more vulnerable, sympathetic and often just plain pathetic. The result is a well-observed comedy for anyone who spends life at the mercy of their own hesitant thoughts.
Peep Show features Mark (David Mitchell) and Jeremy (Robert Webb), two flat-mates living in south London. Mark is a credit manager and the more financially successful of the two, often pessimistic about life and anything to do with Jeremys next big idea. Jeremy rents Mark's spare room and usually has a much more optimistic and energetic outlook on the world than Mark. His self-proclaimed talent as a musician is yet to be recognised, and he is seen as a lazy waster with dodgy friends and not as popular or attractive as he would like to think himself. In series 6 Mark and Jeremy are still sharing a flat in post-credit crunch Croydon while there is a whiff of desperation surrounding them. Having discovered that Sophie (Olivia Colman) is pregnant they have to face up to the possibility that either one of them might be a father. How will this effect Marks pursuit of Dobby (Isy Suttie)? And will it help or hinder Jeremy as he falls for his dream woman, dope-dealing-musician-activist Elena (Vera Filatova)? Extras on the DVD include an exclusive behind the scenes glimpses from those involved in Peep Show and cast interviews. The must see for any fans of the series, an animation feature on how Peep show is made and deleted scenes from series 6.
