| British Comedy DramaOnline Catalogue | British Comedy Drama Kingdom is Stephen Frys first drama series since Jeeves and Wooster ten years ago. Filmed in Norfolk, the series (appearing on ITV in April 2007) follows Peter's life in Market Shipborough as he takes on the responsibility for everyone's welfare. Stephen plays country solicitor Peter Kingdom, whose compassion and humility has won him huge respect in the picture postcard town of Market Shipborough. But there's a secret sadness for the popular lawyer. His brother, and business partner, Simon, has died but his body has never been found. Peter constantly searches for clues to the mystery surrounding Simon's death. Hermione Norris stars as Peter's troubled and lustful younger sister Beatrice, who wreaks havoc when she comes to live with him after being released from a rehabilitation clinic. Celia Imrie is Gloria Millington, the faithful receptionist and confidante, Phyllida Law plays Peter's dotty Aunt Auriel, and Karl Davies is the sharp young trainee solicitor, Lyle Anderson, who dreams of escaping the sleepy backwater to work in the metropolis. Tony Slattery blusters through as the cantankerous villager Mr Snell, who's always seeking litigation.
| | Minder is a spin off from the popular 1980's series of the same name. Archie Daley, the nephew of the legendary Arthur Daley, turns to taxi driver Jamie for help dealing with his problems. | | Blisteringly funny, offbeat drama following the rollercoaster lives and loves of an anarchic family from Manchester. Meet the Gallaghers. Mum went AWOL years ago, Dad stayed at home with the six children only to hit the bottle. And sometimes the kids... The real head of the family is big sister Fiona (20), who looks after Carl (11), Debbie (9) and baby Liam (3). She is occasionally helped, more often hindered, by reluctant virgin 'Lip' (16) and the actively gay, but very private, Ian (15). Welcome to a hectic world of sexual adventures, triumphs, love, scams and a fair bit of crime on a rough Manchester housing estate, where wheel-less cars are the norm and the moving ones are stolen. | | The lowdown: Martin Clunes is Dr Martin Ellingham, a highly efficient and dedicated GP. The trouble is that he is also grumpy, rude and had no bedside manner. His career as a surgeon was cut short when he developed a fear of blood. That secret is known only by a few. Can he grow to love Portwenn, the beautiful moorland around it and the villages 996 contrary inhabitants? Memorable moments: Dr Ellingham walks into the patients waiting room and declares Is there anyone here who has a genuine medical problem? In another toe-curling incident he tells school teacher Louisa Glasson (Caroline Catz) that her dental hygiene regime is not up to scratch. His brutally honest remark is made just as it looked like they would get together as a couple.
| | Set beneath the grey skies of London, HUSTLE follows the exploits of five grifters (played by Adrian Lester, Jaime Murray, Robert Glenister, Marc Warren, and Robert Vaughn). This ambitious group of conmen (and woman) are no small-time crooks either; they've got much loftier goals which play out as elaborate schemes, trickery, and double-crossing. | | The fictional Summerdown and Wattkins Comprehensive Schools provide the two settings for Teachers over its four series. The cast includes an eccentric mix of teachers--both seasoned and young--and some rather raucous pupils, whose daily interactions make for loads of very humorous and entertaining incidents. Set as much outside of the classroom as it is inside, Teachers is a contemporary light-hearted series, where the staff find their personal lives just as problematic as their lives at school. The Guardian :- "Sharply scripted, irreverent and wickedly funny" | | Mike Bullen's comedy drama was about the human condition writ large, but although its six characters go through a life's worth of emotions in each series and the action consistently draws on elements of farce, Cold Feet never strays too far from the bounds of credibility. Initially James Nesbitt (Adam) and John Thomson (Pete) provided the comic core but, as the series developed, Fay Ripley (Jenny), Hermione Norris (Karen) and Robert Bathurst (David) all proved they had comic capabilities worth exploiting. | | This BAFTA award-wining programme from Thames Television is being released in the order it was first shown on TV. The comic partnership of Arthur Daley (GEORGE COLE) and Terry McCann (DENNIS WATERMAN) became a British institution in the 1980s and 90s. Relive again and again their unique blend of raw-edged humour and gritty realism.
| | Hotel Babylon is a drama set in the provocative world of 5 star hotels in London, where if you are rich enough, you can buy anything you want. The show goes behind the glitz and glamour to explore the often frantic goings-on behind the scenes. Based on Imogen-Edwards-Jones' book of the same name, and starring Tamzin Outhwaite, Max Beesley, Dexter Fletcher, Emma Pierson, Natalie Mendoza, Martin Marquez, Ray Coulthard and Michael Obiora; Hotel Babylon is a fast-paced and exciting drama. | | Ballykissangel (also known as BallyK) is a series set in a small village in Ireland. The series starts with a new priest, Father Peter Clifford (Stephen Tompkinson), taking over the local priestly duties in BallyK. The locals are happy to have a new priest, but are suspious of this Englishman.
