A bit of Fry and Laurie - Series 1

A bit of Fry and Laurie - Series 1

Price: Bt300

Quantity:

A collection of sketches taken from the TV comedy show A Bit of Fry and Laurie with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. Witty and urbane, Fry and Laurie explored a seemingly inexhaustible list of subjects with a delicious turn of phrase and elaborate wordplay. Regular sketches included insipid MI5 agent Tony Mercheson and his fervently patriotic boss Control, yuppies John and Peter intent on "putting Uttoxeter on the map, dammit", Hugh Laurie's razor-sharp music parodies and bizarre mock interviews.

A bit of Fry and Laurie - Series 3

Price: Bt300

All the episodes from series 3 featuring sketches and skits from the much-loved comedy double act of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie.By series three, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie had improved their writing and performing skills far beyond those evidenced in series 1.
To my mind, series 3 contains the most memorable sketches, Pass the Marmalade being only one of many that stand with the best of Monty Python.
The Red Hat of Pat Ferrick - a spoof of Roald Dahl/Edgar Lustgarten-type intros to mystery stories, the surreal Shoe Shop - precursor to a Little Britain sketch ("Margaret!"), a wicked Countdown spoof ("SLOBLOCK"), Neddy and Jack ... fantastic how much I remembered after 14 or so years.
I enjoyed watching series 1 and 2 again, but it was the third instalment that had me crying with laughter.

A bit of Fry and Laurie - Series 4

A bit of Fry and Laurie - Series 4

Full of turns of phrase and elaborate wordplay, A Bit of Fry and Laurie was the kind of sophisticated comedy that had been little seen on the BBC for years. With an old-fashioned revue-type atmosphere and oddly 'British' sketches, the delicate innuendoes, coupled with Fry's ability to suggest hidden meanings in everyday phrases, were a winning formula that allowed the pair to conttinue their partnership for almost 10 years. This DVD features every episode from series 4 of the critically acclaimed comedy show.
